School Meals
The school has taken control of its own catering service. A wide range of healthy foods are offered each day. Our school lunch menu rotates on a three-week cycle throughout Spring and Summer, switching to a different menu for the Autumn and Winter months.
Key Stage 1 children, including full-time Foundation, sit in a family service with an adult and seven children at each table, while Key Stage 2 children enjoy cafeteria service. All members of staff take an active part in the supervision of children.
We are a healthy school
Only fruit or vegetable snacks and water should be brought to school. All children are encouraged to drink water throughout the school day.
Our food
We are proud of the food we serve to our children at Hempshill Hall Primary School:
- Food is sourced locally
- Meat is Red Tractor assured, meaning it’s traceable, safe and produced locally
- Fish is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council
- We use quality ingredients from reliable sources
- We offer healthy, nutritious, balanced meals which are low in fat, sugar and salt.
- Fresh produce grown in our school garden is used whenever possible.
About your child’s school meals
Your child’s school meals are provided by Hempshill Hall Primary School, under the guidance and standards set by School Food Standards.
Healthy Eating
When your child has a school meal, you can rest assured they are eating a healthy nutritious meal, cooked from scratch, which will fill them up for the rest of the school day. Meat and vegetarian options are available daily.
Dietary requirements and allergens
If your child has food allergies, please complete a dietary form and return it to the office with an up to date medical letter. The kitchen can then cater for your child’s needs.
Our Menus
Our Menus operate on a three-week cycle and provide up to 3 choices per day. They change twice a year to reflect seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Free School Meals
- Meals are free for children in Reception and Key Stage 1, due to the Universal Free School Meal initiative.
