Year 6 Summer 1 2024

Welcome back after the Easter holidays.  We hope you have enjoyed your well-earned break and managed to get out and about.

This half term we are moving on to our “All Work No Play” topic.  This involves learning all about the Victorian era: how people lived and how lives changed dramatically for various reasons.  We will focus a lot of our work around the lives of children, as well as what Nottingham was like during this time.  In English, we will use the story of Oliver Twist. This will include the use of the film as well as the text.

During the half term, we will be heading out to Nottingham city centre as part of our topic and visiting the Lace Market area and the Galleries of Justice. More details will follow soon via Parent Pay.

Also, this term, the children will be sitting their SATs between 13th and 16th May.  We will be spending some time practicing past papers to help prepare them for these tests.  Please continue to support your child with homework that has been set and encourage them to read regularly.  See the table below for when homework goes out and is expected back.  On Friday 17th we will go to Basil Russell park for a picnic and play to end the week.

Feel free to contact us on the year 6 email if you have any questions, issues or concerns.
